Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief

Have you ever read a book and then seen the movie based on that book? Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief is just that. The book was written by Rick Riordan and the movie was directed by Chris Columbus. In my opinion, the book is better, but the movie was outstanding. Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief; a movie that is unpredictable in what comes next.

A twelve-year-old boy named Percy Jackson (Logan Lerman) discovers he is son of Poseidon (Kevin Mckidd) and that all the Greek myths that he’s learned about, are real. He goes to a school called: Yancy Academy for troubled kids. He’s a “troubled kid” because humans think he has ADD and dyslexia.

While Percy is going on with his own life, Zeus (Sean Bean) has discovered that his lightning bolt was stolen. He believes that Percy stole it since he is son of Poseidon and since Poseidon is forbidden to steal it, he sent his son to steal it.
Percy must retrieve the lightning bolt from whoever stole it and return it to Zeus by the summer solstice or there will be war. With the help of his protector named Grover (Brandon T. Jackson) and Annabeth (Alexandra Daddario) they will try to complete this quest.

I personally like the book more, but it’s a close call. The book has more details on their quest and half of the events that happened in the book, didn’t happen in the movie. I don’t want to ruin the surprise of what happens, but watch the movie and read the book and you’ll know what I’m talking about.

I strongly recommend this movie to children of all ages. It has suspense, action, and an interesting plot. Both, the movie and the book do. I hope you enjoy reading the book and watching the movie.

The Princess and the Frog

Have You Ever Kissed A Frog Before?

Have you ever kissed as frog before? Well, if you have, I would watch the movie, The Princess and the Frog to learn how to turn back into a human. This movie has a fantastic twist on the original book, The Princess and the Frog. It can be easily described in one word: outstanding.
Tiana’s life dream has been to open up her own restaurant. It was her father’s dream too, but it was never fulfilled. Now, Tiana is planning to carry out that dream of theirs.
“The prince is here, the prince is here!” everybody was shouting when the handsome prince arrived. Prince Naveen is a prince whose parents have cut him off financially and is left to fend for himself.
Tiana is a waitress who has been saving money to buy her restaurant. She has no time for fun; all she does is work, work, and work.
When Tiana’s friend is crowned princess of the Mardi Gras and is having Prince Naveen for dinner, she pays Tiana enough money to buy her restaurant, to cater the food.
Prince Naveen may be arriving a bit late to dinner because on his way there, he meets an evil voodoo master who turns him into a frog. Instead of the real Prince Naveen arriving, a fake Prince arrives to the dinner, while the real Prince Naveen has kissed Tiana (thinking she was a princess) and now they are both frogs. How will they turn back into humans and how will Tiana fulfill her dream? You’ll have to watch the movie to find out.
This movie created twist on the original copy, The Princess and the Frog. I think that they twisted it into a fantastic film that will leave you hungry for more. This movie included several musical numbers and Tiana turned into a frog instead of the frog turning back into a handsome prince again.
I can honestly say that Randy Newman did a magnificent job in composing the music.. I can also say that the lead animators-Ron Clements and John Musker- gave it their best in creating the movie.
I strongly recommend this movie for children of all ages. AS I have said before, this movie is easily described in one word: outstanding.
