Anne Ursu is back with an action-packed fantasy novel called The Siren Song. This book is the sequel to her first book in the series, The Shadow Thieves. There are 3 books in the series in total.This book shows the struggles of an eighth grader and her cousin trying to do something that seems to be impossible.

Charlotte Mielswetski is not only a decent gymnast or an ordinary eighth grader, but also the person who must help save her parents and a ton of other people on a cruise ship. The people are in a trance, because of a Siren’s singing, and if they don’t get out of their trance soon, they could be left lost at sea, forever. A siren is a creature who as soon as one hears them sing, you immediately fall under their spell or trance and you never want to stop listening to them.

Charlotte is stuck on this cruise ship and has no connections to land or to anyone else for that matter. Until, Jason- a boy whom Charlotte begins to like and is son of Poseidon- comes onboard to help Charlotte. Jason’s idea of helping Charlotte is to steal Poseidon’s trident and get rid of the Siren. Charlotte decides that his plan is better than nothing and before you know it, Charlotte and Jason embark on a journey to save not only her parents, but other innocent people as well. Will Charlotte and Jason end up together? Will Jason and Charlotte save everyone on the cruise ship? Read the book and find out!

This is the second book Anne Ursu has written in the Cronus Chronicles Trilogy. She is also the author of two adult books called, Spilling Clarence and The Disapparation of James.I think that Anne Ursu is an amazing writer and if she writes any other books, I would definitely consider buying a copy to and hope it’s as good as the previous ones I have read so far.

In my opinion, the book was a little slow in the beginning, but it gets much better towards the middle. I also think that the author did a great job of including lots of detail into the story. I recommend this book to children of all ages, especially people who like to learn about Greek Mythology. I hope you read the book because if you don’t, you are missing out on a great journey that you will be taken on while reading it. And it is truly amazing.
