Reality or Wonderland; Which Would You Choose?

Tired of following rules and doing what you’re told to do all the time, then Join Phoebe Lichten (Elle Fanning) in Wonderland. Join her on facing a few problems here and there; attending a tea party, auditioning for a play, having to see a therapist, but most importantly, join her on a magnificent journey throughout Wonderland. Phoebe in Wonderland; a movie like no other.
Phoebe Lichten is trying two live in two separate worlds: reality and Wonderland. It may seem difficult for you to choose, but for her, it’s-without a doubt- Wonderland. The auditions for Alice in Wonderland are coming soon and she has a difficult time figuring out if she should try out or not, but when “Alice” flashes her smile, the decision is made. No one wants the part of Alice more than Phoebe does, but when she gets the part of Alice she realizes that keeping it may be a bit of a problem.
You see, Phoebe has tourette syndrome- the inability to control her impulse. She can’t stop herself from calling people fat or spitting at her classmates when she gets the urge. When the class pet dies, the students immediately blame Phoebe. They begin to taunt her and the teacher won’t do anything about it. That is when one of the students spit at her; therefore, causing her to spit at one of the children and is taken out of the play as punishment from the principal. Her mom(Felicity Huffman) and Miss Dodger(Patricia Clarkson) -the drama teacher- work really hard to get her back into the play.
Jamie Madison (Ian Coletti) is her only friend and he is there for her through most of her problems. Her sister(Bailee Madison) is reluctant in helping her. Her dad(Bill Pullman) seems to be a bit confused at what is happening. You’ll have to watch the movie to find out more.
Phoebe in Wonderland doesn’t just show how children cope with the condition, but it shows how parents cope with the same condition that Phoebe has. Hillary Lichten-Phoebe’s mom- takes her to a therapist; only to find out that he wants to medicate her. Imagine what it’s like for the families who do go through that.

I strongly recommend this family movie to children of all ages. The movie can be described in one word: fantastic. Phoebe in Wonderland; a movie like no other.
